At first we thought this doc “2 Turntables And A Microphone” about the life and still unsolved death of Run Dmc DJ Jam Master Jay was playing the prestigious New York Film Festival and we were like, ‘waaah?’, cause frankly, it doesn’t look that good. Then we realized it was playing the New York United Film Festival.
We’ve never heard of the festival now in its 6th year, but for those that are curious, the doc makes its New York premiere September 6. The film features appearances by Russell Simmons, Reverend Run, Jay-Z, LL Cool J and 50 Cent and made it’s U.S. premiere at the opening night of the 2008 Hollywood Black Film Festival on June 3.
