Got a Tip?

Jack White, Jimmy Page & U2’s The Edge To Be Featured In Guitar Doc ‘It Might Be Loud’

Corrected version:

The White Stripes Jack White, Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and U2’s The Edge will all be the focus of the era-spanning guitar documentary, “It Might Get Loud” which is set to debut be shown during Cannes 2008 to prospective buyers, but the film will not actually screen for audiences proper at the festival.

Directed by David Guggenheim
(director-producer of “An Inconvenient Truth” and “Deadwood,”) the guitar doc will look at the history of the axe from the point of view of the aforementioned rock touchstones.

The three distinct rockers were picked for their significant contributions to guitar rockin’ over several decades – Pagey for the proto-metal of the Zep-laden ’70s, The Edge for popularizing the abuse of the Boss delay pedal in the ’80s/’90s for soon-to-be post-rockers everywhere and Jack White for his stubborn bringing-it-back-home approach to raw basic blues rock (which everyone says is kinda like Zep anyhow; maybe they shoulda picked someone else – Jonny Greenwood? Wait, where’s Vini Reilly in all this? Waaah!)

Pic was shot in London, Dublin, Nashville and Los Angeles and that’s all the info that’s out there so far. Rawk out with your cock out when you see this or at least fire up the Guitar Hero in anticipation. Oh, and if it’s too loud, you’re not neccesarily too old, it’s just that you might have kids and be incredibly jaded (and sometimes pushing a bugaboo around can be annoying when someone has Motorhead cranked up; but we really, we don’t have kids – you think we could blog this much with a brat? They would died ages ago).

  1. Christ on a cruth!! Jack White?!? WTF for?

His crap on the Stripes albums is all but unlistenable, although grant it, the Raconteurs stuff is really good but White is only getting props because of, well, I don’t know why. There is no real reason. I mean, c’mon? Where was Eddie Van Halen? Tom Morello? Jack Freaking White? Are you kidding me?

There are plenty of other guitarists who are far more worthy of this documentary than Jack White, for Christ’s sake…

  2. Well Mykl.

    I think your retarded.
Jack White is probably the most talented guitarist on the face of the earth. He plays from the heart, and sings about real, things that come from really deep.
How bout’ you get on the stage and try doing what he does hot shot.
You think your top dog because you can talk crap about a singer.
    Well sir,your not.
Go listen to his music again, then listen to other crap, and then post a comment like that.

Jack White deserves more credit then he’s given.

Sure Eddie Van Halen is good, and Tom Morello..
But Jack White is so unique and special, more people should take in his words and listen to what he sings about.

    Go learn something.

  3. mykl mykl mykl….I can see where you are coming from. There are other great guitarists. Good point. But, I can’t think of one who has made such a name for himself in the 2000’s than Jack White.

Although, you are a silly goose for not liking the White Stripes albums, so crawl back in your egg and shut the front door.

    Matt Bellamy.

As for Tom Morello, he is from Edge’s “school”, and i’m guessing they wanted 3 different schools. 🙂

  5. Morello is from Edge’s school? Heavy riffs, overdriven wah wah, creative use of toggle switches?

If he’s from any “school” the headmaster is Jimmy Page!

  6. Saw the movie at the premiere – if you love music you are going to FREAK OUT at this one.

As for Jack White – the movie will show you why he is there. I had goose bumps watching rare Led Zeppelin footage and to watch the Edge talk about the early days.

Boys – put our opinions aside and just enjoy!

    Cheers – Eric

  7. Maybe you should listen to Muse you idiot Bellamy is amazing. The reason why he’s not in here I’m guessing is as much as I’d like to not admit it (because of that stupid comment Bono made) Bellamy uses an edge style with all the delay and that junk. I would much rather see it Page Bellamy and White but I can see why they wanna do three guys from three different eras.

As to the guy who called the Stripes unlistenable why don’t you listen to some of the stuff Morello plays. Kinda screechly, almost like some White Stripes songs………..

  8. Tom morelo and mat is from edge school, the edge school is, minimum to the max, do little things to create great songs, but jack is not that guitar player, he got nothing special, but i don’t know anyone to place him.
