We had it up on an old story, but it got taken down, so we figure we’ll put it up one more time, but holy shit, the new Bond theme for “Quantum Of Solace,” By White Stripes’er Jack White and Alicia Keys is total ear gash.
We don’t mind either of these two, both are talented (yes, even Keys), but god, this might even be worse that Chris Cornell’s Bond theme if you can possibly imagine that.
We can’t imagine what the producers of this film must have been thinking or worse how they feel now considering there’s pretty much no going back. They shoulda stuck with Amy Winehouse, her music already has that Bond-like flair. “Another Way To Die” is terrible.
“Quantum of Solace,” starring Daniel Craig, hits theaters November 14, 2008. “Casino Royale,” was surprisingly great, so let’s hope this miserable song is no indication of the quality of this next Bond film.
That is quite possibly the worst Bond theme I’ve heard and since they all suck (a lot) that’s saying something. One wonders what Jack White was thinking (maybe he should have thought “why do a Bond theme when I am already critically acclaimed and successful?”)
Yea, this pretty much does suck. Starts off ok I guess, but once the singing started I felt compelled to tune it out. Too bad too. I thought this had potential. But seriously, who expects an actual good song to come from a Bond theme? When was the last one…Live and Let Die?? I agree in that they should’ve just let Amy and Mark do their thing. Or better yet, begged Radiohead to crack a stab at it…Lucky Part 2! Oh well. There’s always the next one. What number Bond is this anyway?
On a side note, I caught the opening credits of Goldeneye on TV the other day, and noticed something I didn’t know. Bono and The Edge wrote the theme song! Was I sleeping under a rock in 95 or what? Was this ever hyped? Wonder why Bono didn’t sing it, instead leaving it to Miss Turner? Maybe their film contribution quota was full after Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me.
This song leaves a curious taste in my aural mouth; It sounds like sweet and sour pineapple chicken. I like it more and more after every mouthful.
