Got a Tip?

Jack Black, Matt Dillon & Renée Zellweger Attached To ‘Mad Men’s Matthew Weiner’s Feature Debut

Offer Out To Rachel McAdams

Update: Weiner’s reps say no cast is attached and the project is indefinitely postponed.

Late last year, production on “Mad Men” creator Matthew Weiner‘s feature film debut, “You Are Here,” hit a delay when his commitment to the fourth season of “Mad Men” (which recently aired its season finale) got in the way of production. At the time, Jennifer Aniston, Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis were all attached, but it looks like the film is coming back to life, albeit with a slightly different cast.

Pajiba reports that wheels are back in motion on the film with Jack Black, Matt Dillon and Renée Zellweger now attached with an offer out to Rachel McAdams. So what is it about? Well, if you’re expecting another incisive look at culture in the 1960s, think again. Written before “Mad Men,” “You Are Here” is about “two roommates in their 30s, preoccupied with dodging the responsibilities and rigors of adult life. That is, until the sudden death of one of the men’s fathers, which makes his unstable son the new owner of a general store, a country home and millions of dollars worth of Amish farmland.”

The role of heir, described as “an unemployable, paranoid, pot-head,” is linked to Black. No word yet on who will play the other roommate, “a skirt-chasing weatherman, who drinks, smokes pot, and objectifies women” but we presume it isn’t the 46-year old Dillon. McAdams is the widow of the father, “a younger bohemian,” who becomes the object of affection for both roommates while Zellweger would play Black’s “uptight sister” who is not pleased to have been excluded from the will.

It all sounds very….broad, and certainly a much different piece of material for Weiner. If the stars align correctly, lensing is expected to begin early next year.
