Got a Tip?

J.K. Rowling Writes New Short Story Updating Adult Lives Of Harry Potter And The Gang

Harry Potter And The Death Hallows Part 2As much as J.K. Rowling has tried to put some distance between her and Harry Potter and the gang, she keeps coming back to the wizarding world that made her famous. She’s working with Warner Bros. on a sorta Potter-prequel "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them," and while her recent writing efforts have seen her take a stab at more adult fare, she’s recently taken the time to write a quick, short piece, providing a few small updates on what Harry and his pals are up to these days.

Over at Potterworld, writing under the pen name of gossip columnist Rita Skeeter, Rowling covers the Quidditch World Cup final, where "word swept the campsite and stadium that a certain gang of infamous wizards (no longer the fresh-faced teenagers they were in their heyday, but nevertheless recognisable) had arrived for the final." Indeed, the "Potter family," including "his young sons James and Albus" made the rounds and fans of the books and movies will want to take note of the following tidbits:

— Harry is still wearing glasses, is seen wearing "a nasty cut over his right cheekbone," one likely caused by Auror.

— Harry took time to visit with "Bulgarian Seeker Viktor Krum," indicating the pair are still pals.

— Ron’s hair is " thinning slightly" and he’s now co-managing "the highly successful wizarding joke emporium Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes." Meanwhile, Hermione is "Deputy Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement" with all signs pointing she’ll go even higher.

— Meanwhile, "Victorie [Weasley] seems to be attracted to any dark corner where Master Teddy Lupin happens to be lurking. The good news is both of them seem to have invented a method of breathing through their ears."

And that’s just a few of the highlights, with EW breaking down many more. Or you can read the whole thing at Potterworld, though you’ll have to wave a wand register.

  1. OK I am 50 something but love the Harry Potters series and for me and others what happen in between you need a complete ending and this should be the last

  2. You just know JK Rowling is jonesing to bring Harry Potter back in a sequel series. She was the queen of the literary world for a few years & then it all went away. I figure the Warner Brothers scripts are just the start of what will eventually lead to a series of books about Dad Harry Potter & his kids.

  3. I'm so thrilled that Harry Potter is back. I had never heard of Harry Potter until I saw the first movie. I fell in love with the characters and the movie. I am 68 years old and the Harry Potter movies were the best thing showing. I wish that you had continued the stories through high school and college then marriage. Please think about doing more of these wonderful books and movies. I love all that fantasy, it make peoples lives a little better, to go outside our world into another world and to forget our pain and suffering for a while. Keep up the good work.
