While details are being kept under lock and key for J.J. Abrams‘ forthcoming alien pic “Super 8” we won’t have to wait too long to find out what just what’s in store. The film has been given a summer blockbuster ready release date of June 10, 2011.
Going in front of cameras last month, the picture stars a host of lesser-known actors led by Kyle Chandler (TV’s “Friday Night Lights“) and Elle Fanning (Sofia Coppola‘s upcoming “Somewhere“) with Ron Eldard (“House of Sand and Fog“), Noah Emmerich (“The Truman Show“), Gabriel Basso (Showtime’s “The Big C“), Joel Courtney (indie “29 Reasons To Run“), Zach Mills (“Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium“) and newcomers Riley Griffiths and Ryan Lee rounding out the film.
The Steven Spielberg produced (and influenced) film may (or may not) follow the rumored logline of three siblings who catch a glimpse of a creature in some footage of the titular film format. All we know for sure is that a train crashed in 1979, a train which had something inside, something that wanted to get out…Expect the viral campaign for the film to go into full gear soon (it already started this summer) and details surrounding the film to start coming together as we head into next year.
All I know is that Spielberg is producing. I was an extra in this film, and I saw the three actors (Joel, Riley, & Ryan) and JJ Abrams. I hadn\’t heard any gossip about Steve.
Kinda suspicious of this whole Spielberg homage, even if Steve is producing. Anyone else skeptical of this?
