Is Sam Rockwell signing on to “Iron Man 2” completely blind cause he wants that nice paycheck and global recognition that leads to better gigs or does he just have complete faith in the world Jon Favreau has already created?
It’s not like you need to be an expert in comic books to play the characters, but geeks sometimes get testy about this and Rockwell admits he has no clue about who the character, Justin Hammer, is.
“I just found out that he’s actually a character in the comics,” Rockwell admitted to Splashpage. “I didn’t realize that.” But it’s not all Rockwell’s fault. He hasn’t even read the script, because he hasn’t received one yet. “Is he an older guy?” asked Rockwell. “I need to research this.”

I’m with Sam (possibly) – I have no clue who Hammer is, and we all know that I actually read comics.
There’s been so much revision and repurposing of Marvel characters lately (often post-blockbuster film), that kudos could potentially be given to Theroux for digging up the character, if it turns out to be a good one.
I’ll bet Rockwell just signed on since he’s buddies with Favreau (I’m assuming since he’s in MADE), the movie did gangbusters and was good and he’s probably gonna get paid a lot so he can go do CHOKE 2: CHOKE HARDER or SNOW ANGELS PART DEUX for no money.
Actually, for long time readers, Hammer is a fixture in the Marvel Universe. A weapons dealer like Stark, he’s been responsible for dozens of Marvel’s c-list villains, and could easily be a mover and shaker in the coming movie. He was originally much older, but my guess is they’re making him out to be a twisted mirror image of what Stark would be like without morals.
