We hate waiting for information, so we try and sniff it out. We’ve been reading and translating a bunch of different French articles and we think we have it. You’ve read the reports that strongly suggest that Melanie Laurent plays the lead protagonist, Shosanna in Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglorious Bastards.” Then following that news came word that Léa Seydoux and Anne-Sophie Franck (both stars of the 2006 French film, “Me Copines” aka “Girlfriends”) had joined the cast in some unspecified capacity.
We think have it figured out. Seydoux will play the young version of Shosanna at the beginning of the film and Franck will play Francesca, the colluding Frenchwoman and interpreter to the Nazis.
What’s this based off of? A few things. In this French Metro article, the report says that Seydoux make “one rapid appearance” and “a small role” in “Inglorious Bastards” (this probably means a quick cameo). A Allcoine video interview with the actress says she plays a farmer who “hides,” and another written Allocine article, calls the character a farm girl. Before she goes on to run a French Cinematheque later in the film, Shosanna appears briefly as the daughter of a farmer early in the movie before she grows up
Which must mean Franck is Francesca by default. We call case closed on the casting here (or at least on these two actresses and roles). You’re welcome. Now if they just cast Isaach De Bankolé as Marcel and all will be well in the world.
Update: ok, we’re fallible. Not quite at all.
*we’re more fallible, there is no Young Shosanna in the script, we were wrong, please disregard. We hadn’t read the script in a few months and thought there was a large gap from when she first appears and then when she reappears many pages later. We were incorrect. It’s like a two week gap. We apologzie for this error.
super sleuth.
😉
Sorry, no.
The beautiful and talented actress actually plays one of the daughters of the family that was sheltering Shoshanna's family though. Her character's name is Charlotte Lapadite.
