Got a Tip?

Irrfan Khan Calls ‘Spider-Man’ A “Violent American Fantasy”; Says He Did It For His Kids

So guess who just talked himself out of doing the eventual press rounds for Marc Webb‘s rebooted “Spider-man“?

Speaking with Indian Express (via /Film) Irrfan Khan, who was cast at the end of last year in the role of the second villain, Nels Van Adder, reveals that he initially didn’t want to take the role. “I didn’t want to be part of this violent American fantasy. But both my sons were excited and kept insisting that I take it up,” he said adding that the quality of script helped push him on to sign. However, he had two stipulations for Webb: he didn’t want to wear a mask or become another creature. So we’re curious to see how Van Adder turns into the Proto-Goblin or if he even will. We’ll have to wait and see.

At any rate, the film is currently in the midst of shooting and Khan will be able to share his thoughts on comic violence with the rest of the cast that includes Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Rhys Ifans (as the other villain, The Lizard) and Denis Leary. The film hits on July 3, 2012.
