American TV producer Shonda Rhimes made her name with ABC hits “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal.” She’s a full-fledged mogul now, with a multi-year deal with Netflix that has already spawned the mega-popular “Bridgerton.” There are plenty a dozen other Rhimes-led projects on the way, as well, all exclusive to Netflix. So, the question remains: what’s next from Shondaland, Rhime’s production company? Well, Netflix delivered the scoop, and Rhime’s newest output is “Inventing Anna.”

The drama miniseries, set to premiere in 2022, follows German heiress Anna Delvey’s sudden rise and fall with New York City’s upper crust socialites. Why the swift downturn in fortune? Well, as the infamous New York Magazine article by Jessica Pressler unveils, there was more and less to Delvey than meets the eye.

In Inventing Anna, a journalist with a lot to prove investigates the case of Anna Delvey, the Instagram-legendary German heiress who stole the hearts of New York’s social scene – and stole their money as well. But is Anna New York’s biggest con woman, or is she simply the new portrait of the American dream? Anna and the reporter form a dark, funny, love-hate bond as Anna awaits trial and our reporter fights the clock to answer the biggest question in NYC: who is Anna Delvey? The series is inspired by the New York Magazine article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People” by Jessica Pressler, who also serves as a producer.
The show stars Anna Chlunsky, Julia Garner, Arian Moayed, Kate Lowes, and Alexis Floyd. Anders Holm, Anna Deavere Smith, Jeff Perry, Terry Kinney, and Laverne Cox round out the main cast.
