Being invited into your employer’s home can only be a good thing, right? Well for two employees, things are only going to get crazy in “Into The Dark: A Nasty Piece Of Work.” As part of Hulu’s “Into The Dark” series, where each month they take a holiday and but their own scary twist on it, will see the jolliest holiday of them all turned into a fright-fest. It will see two employees (Kyle Howard of “Orange County” and Dustin Milligan of “Schitt’s Creek”) of a large company participate in violent competition for their Christmas bonus in front of their sadistic boss (Julian Sands of “Warlock”).
The series is in its second season, with last Christmas looking at a holiday shop worker having his personality split when he dressed as the mascot. It seems that this holiday will see a side just as twisted as last year. With Blumhouse on board as well, the guys that have given us “The Purge” and “Paranormal Activity,” they know how to scare and their wealth of horror experience has come in handy for Hulu.
Blumhouse is one of the leading horror production companies, from shows on streaming platforms such as Hulu and Netflix to big-budget films released in the cinema, and they can do it all year round. This won’t be their only Christmas release this year, as they have the remake of “Black Christmas” still to come on December 13.
The future is also looking very bright as we enter the new year for Blumhouse, with the likes of “Fantasy Island” and “The Invisible Man” all still to come. It also seems they won’t be moving away from the streaming platforms, with this current series set to run into late 2020.
As for now, we have a gory Christmas special to sit through as of yet. With Charles Hood (“Play By Play”) directing and roles for Angela Sarafyan (“The Immigrant”), Natalie Hall (“True Blood”) and Molly Hagan (“iZombie”), this looks set to be a marvelous Christmas delight.
Here is the synopsis:
A mid-level employee at a large company finds out he’s not getting the Christmas bonus or promotion he was expecting. But then his boss invites him over for dinner with a proposal for how he can climb the corporate ladder… by beating his professional rival in a violent competition.
The newest episode will be available on Hulu on December 6. Watch the brand new trailer below.
