Warner Bros. has some big comic book gambles on their plate for 2016. Their DC universe will live or die on the reception of "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice," which introduces a new Caped Crusader, while "Suicide Squad" brings forth a fresh take on The Joker, with Jared Leto following iconic turns by Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger. It’s some very big shoes for Leto to fill, but he’s boldly stepping into the job, and tells Empire he’s putting his own stamp on the character.
“I took a pretty deep dive. But this was a unique opportunity and I couldn’t imagine doing it any other way. It was fun playing those psychological games. But at the same time, it was very painful, like giving birth out of my prick-hole,” Leto said, poetically. He added: “It’s something different. If you don’t break rules, you’re not going to strike new ground.”
So, what does that mean in practice? Well, as you’ll see below, The Joker now wears sweatpants, walks with a cane, goes barefoot, and has a grin tattooed on his torso. Subtle, he is not. Take a look below — "Suicide Squad" opens on August 5, 2016.
`It was very painful, like giving birth out of my prick hole`.Not a sentence I ever thought I`d be reading.
