Got a Tip?

‘If All Goes Wrong,’ Aptly-Titled Smashing Pumpkins Doc Coming To The Big Screen For One Measly Day

Ah, the Smashing Pumpkins. Man they really shit the bed and tarnished whatever remaining shreds of dignity they had with their latest reunion. Billy Corgan and his faithful cronie Jimmy Chamberlin made the colossal mistake of assuming louder and harder is bigger and better and 2007’s Zeitgeist was embarrassing. But Corgan has never been one to shy away from the challenge of beating a dead horse beyond recognition hence the new aptly-titled upcoming documentary, “If It All Goes Wrong” (umm, need we even belabor the point??).

And after all this? The doc will be in theaters for ONE fucking day. The 105-minute documentary chronicles their last tour and blah, blah, blah. It’s also being released Nov. 11 on DVD in a two-disc set with all the live music, blah, blah. This is when we feel bitter about our obligations about “movies and music,” cause frankly, who gives a flying fuck about this? Ugh. [EW/ a “trailer,” we use that word as lightly as possible, is at Rolling Stone somewhere/details at RoadRunner]

  1. You know, I hate the feeling of embarrassment forced upon me for liking the Smashing Pumpkins. Of course, I only liked them when they were good…Mellon Collie and back (ok, some of Adore was palatable), but it’s like because they are currently ruining their image/reputation/etc. with their new shit, you are looked down upon for listening to or liking the old shit….the good shit! I mean when the Who turned to shit, are they still not the fucking Who? U just ignore what they are doing today and focus on yesterday.

Kinda like Oasis. I just listened to their new CD, and it’s completely irrelevant and forgettable. Doesn’t mean I won’t still spin Def. Maybe or Morning Glory again.

Thing is, no nineties band is currently recording their best material. They are all past their prime or defunct. Even Radiohead sadly 🙁

  2. despite any opinions of the Pumpkin’s new music vs. old and so on, the doc. is actually pretty good. It’s very honest and it doesn’t pull punches. Also, you get some delectable insight to the questioned ego that is Billy Corgan. I enjoyed it
