As we said earlier today, when we reported that Olga Kurylenko tested positive for COVID-19 (aka coronavirus), there are going to be quite a few celebrities in the days to come that are going to test positive for the illness. And here we are with yet another—Idris Elba.
In a tweet today, the A-lister revealed that he has officially been confirmed to have coronavirus and is already well into a self-quarantine. Elba assures everyone that he’s feeling okay and to not panic. The actor said that he only recently got tested after possible exposure and just received the results now.
“It came back positive, and it sucks,” said the actor in a video posted to Twitter. “I didn’t have any symptoms. I got tested because I realize I was exposed to someone who also tested positive.”
He said that he found out Friday that the person he was in contact with tested positive and he quarantined immediately.
The actor also wrote a tweet that helped explain, “This morning I tested positive for Covid 19. I feel ok, I have no symptoms so far but have been isolated since I found out about my possible exposure to the virus. Stay home people and be pragmatic. I will keep you updated on how I’m doing ???????????????? No panic.”
Elba was most recently seen in the films “Cats” and “Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.” He also starred in the Netflix series, “Turn Up Charlie.” He has a number of projects on the horizon, including the recently-wrapped “The Suicide Squad,” as well as George Miller’s upcoming “Three Thousand Years of Longing,” which finds Elba starring opposite Tilda Swinton.
Elba joins Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, Kurylenko, and other celebrities, who have all tested positive for COVID-19.
