Also: Look at This Weird Guy!
Considering there will now have been two “Human Centipede” movies in two years, one wonders if this outré franchise will be the new “Saw” or “Paranormal Activity,” a once-every-Halloween dare to the cinema-going public. Either way, we should probably just get used to getting really grossed out every year for a while. And if you’re in Austin in a few weeks, you can feel nauseous even earlier.
IFC has announced on their site that “The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence” (yes, that’s the actual title), Tom Six’s sequel that no one was asking for, will premiere at Austin’s genre film festival Fantastic Fest on September 22nd. Amazingly, it’s the festival’s Opening Night Film. We can only imagine barf bags will be handed out at the door.
And if you want to get a glimpse of what the movie will be, exactly, we have a pair of questionable taste treats for you today – first off, Yahoo has debuted the domestic trailer for the movie, which is way better than the lame Australian one from a few days ago. You can watch it below. The trailer starts out with nightmarish footage from the first movie before taking a surprisingly meta-textual turn, as we see the second film’s villain Martin (newcomer Laurence R. Harvey – yes, that’s his name) get berated by his overbearing mother. “Is this that perverted film you’ve been talking about?” she squeals, after reading the tagline for the first film – “100% Medically Accurate.” Are we to believe that this movie is more “Scream” than “Saw?” Probably not, but it’s a nice thought.
We then see Martin dressed in a gore-drenched white shirt, dancing around like serial killers do and eying an actual centipede, for inspiration we presume. Even though Harvey gives us that creepy, “Did they pick this guy up from a bus shelter?” vibe, we’re guessing that the sequel will fall back on the same silly-disgusting theatrics of the first one (although, this writer must admit to being too chicken shit to watch all of the original movie).
If you’d like to have a little bit of Martin for yourself (maybe it can be your new desktop image?), Entertainment Weekly debuted a disturbing photo of the character on their Inside Movies blog. Keep in mind director Six said this one would make the first film look like “My Little Pony.”
For all you sick puppies that can’t be at Fantastic Fest, “The Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence” is coming to depraved theaters (and On Demand) on October 7th via IFC’s IFC Midnight series. We dare you to watch.
Please consider supporting UK Fans who will not get to see the film by signing the Government Petition to get the film released in the UK: http://goo.gl/rY7fq
Statistically the biggest chunk of horror movie watchers are young males, specially for those in teenage years they offer special advantage: they can brag about their master of fear, specially when the females are present. The daring attitude is presented as courageous masculine trait. \”Dare to watch, are you strong enough, \” etc. are typical psychological ideas/manipulations and reaction being part of attraction of horror movies. Dare to watch is kind of adolescent. Maybe this will be powerful appeal to immature insecurities of many who are beyond teenage years. How ironic.
yahoo video embeds are always shit. half the time they say the video can\’t be obtained.
