As the voice of Megatron, a prominent villain in both the ‘Transformers’ films, you’d think Hugo Weaving would be quite well-versed in the story and involved with the production of Michael Bay’s films, right? Not exactly.
“Oh no,” Weaving tells The Age with laughs. “They’re not making ‘Transformers 3,’ are they?”
“Michael Bay talks to me on the phone. I’ve never met him. We were doing the voice for the second one and I still hadn’t seen the first one. I still didn’t really know who the characters were and I didn’t know what anything was. It’s a voice job, for sure, and people assume I’ve spent my life working on it, but I really know so little about it.”
Gotta love his honesty but seriously, we bet half the voice actors on that franchise couldn’t pick an Autobot from a Decepticon if their life depended on it.
if only shia had the same excuse
This is hilarious!
I wouldn't expect Weaving to do any "research" for the role, but I have to say its just so funny that he never even bothered watching the first one his voice was in…ha ha…
I guess he doesn't have teenage kids or anything. They process the voices too, so it's not like it's really his voice anymore…How much did he get paid for the gig???
Not like Weaving acts anyway. Most of his roles are "stand there and talk like Agent Smith."
Eve-
Thank you. I still have friends who love Shia, think he's a good actor, etc. He only has two emotions – panicky yelling and panicky joking.
Should have just stayed the "Even Stevens" kid….
Also, it sure seemed like most of the actors "phoned in" their performances in Transformers 2.
I have so much more respect for Weaving now.
Funny as hell – those movies are SHITE and everybody knows it
Weird guy, great actor, par for the course.
