Over the holidays, Netflix gave the gift of a new “Knives Out” film to its subscribers, titled “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.” With the film seemingly doing really great numbers for the streaming service, more and more folks are seeing how the world of Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is being expanded on, including revealing a bit about the famed investigator’s personal life. And that’s where Hugh Grant comes in.

Speaking to Collider, while promoting his upcoming role in the “Dungeons & Dragons” film, Hugh Grant talked about his brief cameo in “Glass Onion” and how it came about. While it’s maybe a small spoiler for those who haven’t seen it, the film introduces a bit more about Benoit Blanc’s personal life by introducing his love interest, played by Grant. It’s already been revealed, prior to the film’s release, that Blanc is a queer man, but now we get to hear from the actor playing the investigator’s partner.
“It is true, I’m married to James Bond,” said Grant. “It’s the tiniest little moment. I don’t really know why they wanted to do it but anyway, I thought ‘Knives Out 1’ was brilliant, and so yeah, I thought why not? I turn up for a few hours…”

Of course, the joke is that Daniel Craig is most well known for his role as James Bond in the most recent series of 007 films. Filmmaker Rian Johnson has said numerous times that he doesn’t want to fully reveal the backstory of Benoit Blanc, and instead, he’s going to tease out bits of information over multiple films. So, it’s unclear how Grant might factor into future films. That said, it appears that the actor is excited about being included in the growing franchise.
“Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” is now available on Netflix.
