‘Hot Milk’: Jessie Buckley, Vicky Krieps & Fiona Shaw To Star In Rebecca Lenkiewicz’s Directorial Debut

Though they may not have starred in the biggest films in the world or top many A-list Hollywood lists, Jessie Buckley, Fiona Shaw, and Vicky Krieps are three of the best actors working today. And luckily for film fans around the world, the trio is working together on a new film, “Hot Milk.”

According to HanWay Films, Jessie Buckley, Fiona Shaw, and Vicky Krieps are set to star in the upcoming drama, “Hot Milk,” written and directed by Rebecca Lenkiewicz. The drama is based on the bestselling novel of the same name from author Deborah Levy. 

Here’s the description for the film:

Rose (Shaw) and her daughter Sofia (Buckley) travel to the Spanish seaside town of Almería to consult with the shamanic Dr Gomez, a physician who could possibly hold the cure to Rose’s mystery illness, which has left her bound to a wheelchair. But in the sultry atmosphere of this sun-bleached town Sofia, who has been trapped by her mother’s illness all her life, finally starts to shed her inhibitions, enticed by the persuasive charms of enigmatic traveller Ingrid (Krieps). Sofia’s increased freedom becomes too much for her controlling mother, and as the hot sun beats down, their relationship simmers with pent-up resentments and bitterness, threatening to tear the fragile threads that hold them together, and leading them to a dramatic conclusion.

While “Hot Milk” marks the directorial debut for Lenkiewicz, the filmmaker is far from new to the industry. Previously, she has written features such as “Ida,” “Obedience,” and “Colette.”

It’s inspiring to work with this deep seam of female talent and to support Rebecca’s vision as director in bringing ‘Hot Milk’ to the big screen.”

Obviously, it’s far too early to know when we might see “Hot Milk” in your local cinema or streaming outlet. But we’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for this one.
