If you’ve ever flown on a plane, you know the biggest fear there is about flying—the death of the pilot. Without the pilot, what the hell are you going to do? Well, if you’re lucky enough to be on a commercial airline, there are other options and a ton of technology that probably can help. But for the young couple in “Horizon Line,” those safeguards aren’t available, and they’re seemingly screwed.
As seen in the trailer for “Horizon Line,” the film features the story of a young couple that is flying with a pilot over the vast ocean when the worst thing that could happen happens. The pilot dies of a heart attack. With only the couple left and no autopilot or much flying experience…and a severe lack of fuel, the duo must work together to somehow land the plane and survive.
The film stars Allison Williams, Alexander Dreymon, Keith David, and a really small airplane. “Horizon Line” is directed by Mikael Marcimain, from a script written by Josh Campbell and Matthew Stuecken. Those two screenwriters are also the duo that worked on the script for “10 Cloverfield Lane,” which is another claustrophobic thriller.

Here’s the synopsis:
From the creators of 10 Cloverfield Lane and The Shallows, HORIZON LINE is a thrilling survival story about two former lovers, Sara (Allison Williams) and Jackson (Alexander Dreymon) who discover new altitudes of fear aboard a single-engine Cessna plane. It was supposed to be a routine and casual 99-minute flight to their friend’s tropical island wedding. But within minutes after takeoff, their pilot suffers a fatal heart attack, leaving Sara and Jackson with no idea where they are, no comms, and no clue how to land the plane. With nothing but miles of ocean and sky in every direction, and a terrifying storm that’s about to envelop them, Sara and Jackson have only one shot – and there’s no going back.
