Got a Tip?

Hollywood’s Obsession With Peter Pan Continues As ‘The League Of Pan’ Heads To TV

nullPerhaps it has something to do with being young forever — a familiar quest for many in Hollywood — that resonates so clearly with executives, but it seems they can't get enough of Peter Pan. Earlier this year, the Channing Tatum-produced "Neverland" landed "Warrior" helmer Gavin O'Connor in the director's chair, and in 2011 another movie called "Pan" lined up Aaron Eckhart, AnnaSophia Robb and Sean Bean (but has yet to be shot). But really, fairytales in general are big business, with "Snow White And The Huntsman" proving to be a hit, and "Once Upon A Time" and "Grimm" also doing well on the small screen. So let's saturate the market!

20th Century Fox and Imagine TV have decided to step into the ring with "The League Of Pan," which is — get this — "a re-imagining of the Peter Pan mythology." Obviously. The show will be set in the current day and follow up with some Lost Boys ten years after they bailed on Neverland to find the drugs, sex and rock 'n roll of the big city (okay, we made that last part up). The show is based on an idea by Brian McCauley Johnson, a rising writer who clearly saw the writing on the Hollywood wall and has wisely pitched the exact thing execs love. Remakes and stuff based on properties they don't have to pay for. Perfect.

It's still in early stages, needs a showrunner, a pilot screenwriter and more, so this won't be seen until 2013 at the earliest. But if you ever wanted to know what the Lost Boys would be doing in modern America, well, we guess we're going to find out. [Deadline]
