Got a Tip?

‘Here We Are’ Trailer: Meryl Streep, Jacob Tremblay & More Want You To Appreciate Our Planet

While existential dread over the spreading COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic has engulfed the population of our fine planet, April is actually a month where we are supposed to think about another existential threat, the pollution and the future health of our planet. That’s right, Earth Day is just a few weeks away, and Apple TV+ has a new project, “Here We Are,” with an all-star voice cast that is hoping to make you think hard about hurting our world.

As seen in the trailer for “Here We Are,” the beautifully animated film follows the story of a married couple that gives birth to a little boy. And as he grows, the couple reads stories about the world and helps expose him to various issues affecting the planet, as well as an introduction to the vastness of our global population. And while that may sound a bit preachy, perhaps even eye-roll inducing, it’s clear that a lot of work and effort went into this project, giving “Here We Are” plenty of heart, which may even break through your cynicism.

The voice cast includes Chris O’Dowd, Ruth Negga, Jacob Tremblay, and Meryl Streep. The animated film is based on the children’s book, “Here We Are: Notes for Living on Planet Earth,” by Oliver Jeffers.

“Here We Are” Debuts on Apple TV+ on April 17. Just in time for Earth Day, which falls on April 22.

Here’s the synopsis:

On the eve of Earth Day, a precocious seven-year-old learns about the wonders of the planet from his parents—and a mysterious exhibit at the aptly titled Museum of Everything. Based on the best-selling children’s book by Oliver Jeffers.
