There are some directors who take advertising gigs and anonymously knock them out, doing little to leave any kind of personal mark on the work. And then there’s Harmony Korine. The filmmaker has been busy making ads this year, dropping spots for Supreme and Yves St. Laurent, and with each bringing his personality or aesthetic to the job. And he does it again for Under Armour, in a new spot featuring NBA superstar Stephen Curry.

Continuing his neon obsession from “Spring Breakers,” Korine puts the Golden State Warriors point guard on a blacklight basketball court, as the voiceover narration sees the baller moving forward from last year’s loss at the NBA Finals. “Make that old” is the refrain heard throughout the spot, underscoring Curry’s ability to shake any disappointments or failures and keeping moving toward the future. And all of it is framed by Korine’s terrific visuals. Check it out and let’s hope the next time the director is behind the camera, it’s helming a movie. [Shoot]
