As 2021 stream-rolls in, we’re extremely excited to see what new movies we can look forward to soon. One that comes out next month, “Happily” from writer/director BenDavid Grabinski and producer Jack Black, just released a brand spanking new trailer, which gives a glimpse of the dark romantic comedy from Paramount and Saban Films.
“Happily,” follows Tom (Joel McHale) and Janet (Kerry Bishé), who, after 14 years of marriage, still can’t keep their hands off each other. When they discover their friends are resentful of their constant public displays of affection, the couple starts to question the loyalty of everyone around them. Then, a visit from a mysterious stranger (Root) thrusts them into an existential crisis, leading to a dead body, a lot of questions, and a very tense couples’ vacation.

The upcoming film’s cast consists of comedic veterans such as Emmy Award Nominee Joel McHale (“Community,” “Deliver Us from Evil”), Kerry Bishé (“Red State,” “Halt and Catch Fire,” “Argo”), Emmy Award Nominee Stephen Root (“Barry,” “King of the Hill”), Paul Scheer (“Long Shot,” “Black Monday”), Breckin Meyer (“Road Trip,” “Clueless”), Natalie Zea (“The Unicorn,” “Justified”), and Natalie Morales (“Dead to Me,” “Parks and Recreation”).
You can’t really argue with an excellent cast like that.
Joel McHale is likely best known for his days on E!‘s “Talk Soup” and the comedy series “Community,” but it’ll be interesting to see how he transitions to a film career as a leading man. With an overload of huge popcorn films expected to be released throughout the year, it’ll be nice to have options like “Happily.”
The film releases in theaters, on digital, and on-demand starting March 19. Watch the trailer below.
