Got a Tip?

‘Halt & Catch Fire’ Season 3 Trailer Brings Hackers Into The World Of 1980s Computers

It’s rather amazing to me still. AMC’s “Halt & Catch Fire”— which we called the best show on TV you’re not watching early on — received fairly mediocre reviews in its first season and was generally ignored, and as you can tell by the trailer for season 3, that opinion has radically changed (season two is good, but essentially not much different from season one in its characters, their dynamics and the show’s set up).

Fronted by a powerhouse cast of underrated character actors — Lee Pace, Scoot McNairy, Kerry Bishé, Toby Huss, Mackenzie Davis (who is already poised to be a big star) — “Halt & Catch Fire” is set in the world of the personal computer revolution in the 1980s. And yes, while he hasn’t appeared yet, there’s definite, though vague overlap with Steve Jobs (and the “Steve Jobs” movie) and the revolution that he spearheaded (season two has a brief nod to the computer pioneer and his career at that time). Created by Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers, the characters on “Halt & Catch Fire” are much more ragtag up and comers, but they’re poised to be trailblazing disrupters in this world. It’s an engaging show with a cast full of compelling actors and the third season of the drama will premiere on August 23rd and I’ll definitely be watching. Check out the trailer, plus the first images from season 3 below.

  1. Could you please explain what you mean by the 2nd (really long) sentence? ‘That opinion has radically changed’ really doesn’t make sense in the context of what else was said.
