It’s rare that a studio is able to launch a new franchise so naturally. Most of the time, studios plan out franchises from the very beginning, planting seeds of future films in the original. But in the case of “John Wick,” it’s clear Lionsgate had no idea that it was about to release the beginning of a cinematic universe when the film hit theaters in 2014. But now, as we approach the release of the fourth film, as well as a spinoff TV series and at least one spinoff film, the “John Wick” franchise is a bonafide cinematic universe. And according to Halle Berry, it could continue to grow.

Speaking to IGN, while promoting the release of her new film, “Bruised,” which she directed herself, Halle Berry talked about the future of her “John Wick” character Sofia. Apparently, the actress isn’t set to show up in the upcoming “John Wick: Chapter Four,” but that doesn’t mean we have seen the last of Sofia.
“Sofia’s not in the next ‘John Wick’ movie,” Berry said. “There could possibly be a Sofia…her own movie. So she might not be in ‘John Wick,’ but she might be doing her own thingy-thingy.”
For those that didn’t watch “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,” Berry plays Sofia, an ex-assassin and friend of Wick, who helps him when he needs it most. She also is known for having badass dogs. It’s unclear where the film might take place and how it might fit in the “John Wick” world, but Berry’s character is a fan favorite and people would definitely like to see it happen.

The next “John Wick” film is set to hit theaters on March 24, 2023.
