Recently moved to a release date right in the middle of summer, just a few days after "The Amazing Spider-Man," Universal has high hopes that Oliver Stone's "Savages" will be a pulpy multiplex diversion. And the first poster has dropped giving us a much better look at the array of characters we'll meet in the gritty thriller.
Based on the best-selling crime novel by Don Winslow, Blake Lively plays the gal pal of two Laguna Beach drug dealers (Aaron Johnson and Taylor Kitsch) who is kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel who wants to move in on their turf. The cast is rounded out impressively by Benicio Del Toro, Uma Thurman, John Travolta, the recently Oscar nominated Demian Bichir, Salma Hayek, Joel David Moore and Emile Hirsch. And it seems everyone is pushing their game a bit. Hayek has borrowed a wig from Nic Cage, Lively is doing her sexpot thing, Travolta is gleefully playing a burned out DEA agent, Del Toro brandishes a blade as a cartel enforcer….and who is in the mask? Could it be Hirsch whose role has been kept under wraps?
Hopefully a trailer is around the corner. "Savages" opens on July 6th. [JoBlo] Update: 15 seconds of a new trailer has arrived via MTV. Watch it below and hopefully this means the full thing is right around the corner.

I can't take benicio del toro seriously anymore i which he wasn't in the film…A baby with kimberly stewart that's sick
Came here to say the same thing as Ray H… eerily similar to Babel's poster. Is this a coincidence (do coincidences even exist in Hollywood?!) or are they THAT unoriginal?
They stole Babel's poster design.
Looks very plastic. Looking forward to watch it though
Digging the poster. The book is fantastic. Definitely looking forward to this.
You could spot those steely blue eyes from miles away- it's Aaron Johnson in the mask! I like everything I see so far… Hayek's AWESOME wig, Lively's one (of two) expressions, and Kitsch's scars that were probably leftover from Battleship. I hope this movie is awesome. Stone needs a hit after the dreadful Wall Street 2.
"…with Salma Hayek as Katy Perry!"
This year's 'Drive'
Blue eyes in a mask….gotta be johnson.
Aaron Johnson's in the mask and the trailer is set to bow on Thursday according to your JoBlo article source.
killer design.
