Because there aren’t enough movies coming in 2015, Universal has announced a brace of new release dates, so get ready to add a handful of new movies to an already huge year in movies, along with a few 2014 bows to keep an eye out for.
First up, Guillermo Del Toro‘s Victorian horror “Crimson Peak” will scare screens in time for Halloween on October 16, 2015. Starring Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Hunnam, it’s a new direction for the filmmaker, and we know have an official logline for the movie that seems to find del Toro kicking new life into the haunted house genre: In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider. Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds…and remembers. Spooky!
With Elizabeth Banks now set to direct, “Pitch Perfect 2” is tuning up and aiming for summer audiences on May 15, 2015, where it will be some counter-programming against “Mad Max: Fury Road.”
One more to keep an eye on is “Everest,” the Baltasar Kormákur mountain climbing epic starring Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Jake Gyllenhaal that will open on an appropriate wintery date of February 27, 2015.
As for the rest of Universal’s release dates, take a gander below:
AS ABOVE, SO BELOW will be released by Universal Pictures on Friday, August 15, 2014.
A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES starring Liam Neeson will hit on Friday, September 19, 2014.
Horror OUIJA arrives on Friday, October 24, 2014.
Mia W. is playing the aspiring author, which automatically makes me excited to see this. Sucks we have to wait nearly two years, though.
Jason, Josh, John, and Jake. Unreal.
