After two massively successful installments in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” film franchise, James Gunn was ready to work on the third. Then he got fired, went to DC to make “The Suicide Squad,” was rehired to work on ‘Guardians,’ and released a Christmas special, and now, years later, we’re here to finally see how the filmmaker wanted his franchise to end. So, is the long wait for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” actually worth it? In this episode of The Playlist Podcast, we break down the final film in James Gunn’s Marvel tenure.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” tells the story of everyone’s favorite space heroes as they band together to help one of their own, Rocket, and take a look into his past to find out what made a raccoon turn into a gun-toting murder machine. Along the way, Star-Lord tries to convince Gamora that she still loves him, Adam Warlock shows up to cause issues, High Evolutionary yells a lot, and Mantis plays pranks on Drax. It has all the makings of another delightful entry into the franchise.
But is the third ‘Guardians’ film the best of the series? Did James Gunn leave the MCU on a high note before taking over DC Studios? Are we really saying bye to some of these characters? Listen to our full discussion below:
