If there has been one constant over the course of Matthew McConaughey's comeback trail, it's that all of his characters have been pitched to varying degrees of grimy, scuzzy or dirty. He's played the hair slicked Mick Haller in "The Lincoln Lawyer," the sleazy hitman in "Killer Joe," the perma-sweaty Dallas in "Magic Mike" and now he lives up his name as the titular "Mud."
A new poster for Jeff Nichols' latest puts the actor front and center and packing some heat, lending some danger to the one sheet. Co-starring Tye Sheridan and Reese Witherspoon, the fairy tale-like story centers on Mud, on the run and living in the woods, who enlists the help of two young boys to help him reunited with his sweetheart Juniper. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last spring, hit Sundance last month and arrives at the SXSW in March.
But if you can't make those festivals, don't worry, as the movie opens in theaters on April 26th. Poster below. [EW]
