Last month, rumors began circulating that “Green Lantern” writer and “Brothers & Sisters” creator Greg Berlanti would be taking the helm of the gestating “The Flash” film.
At ShoWest last week, ComingSoon/SuperHeroHype took the opportunity to ask Berlanti about the “The Flash,” and the writer/director played it pretty close to the chest saying, “Nah, you know right now, it’s all about… ‘Green Lantern’ just started shooting a couple of days ago and everyone is really excited about that. I’m mostly focused just on finishing up this movie. I haven’t really thought about any of that stuff yet, but just hoping this goes well.”
So what does this mean? Frankly, who knows. We’re guessing that Berlanti probably doesn’t know himself and that any talks of him directing are very early at this point. Remember, at one point he was rumored to be directing “Green Lantern” before Martin Campbell eventually got the job. Berlanti has no experience directing big action tentpoles, and it would be a tremendous leap of faith for a studio to entrust a franchise to him. That said, Michel Gondry is directing “Green Hornet” so we suppose anything is possible.
