We guess this announcement was inevitable, but according to /Film [via Box Office Mojo] Warner Bros. are gearing up to release both Martin Campell’s “Green Lantern” and Zack Snyder’s “Sucker Punch” in 3D.
With the filming on “Sucker Punch” has already wrapped, Snyder’s film is going to get the post-production conversion that James Cameron (and we) don’t like. Meanwhile, it’s unclear if “Green Lantern” will be shot in 3D from the get go, but given that filming this way will add some time to the production and they are already on a tight schedule to meet the June 17, 2011 release date, we doubt it.
Of course, we don’t have to tell you we’re not big fans of 3D being used for seemingly every film coming up in the next little while. That said, while we hope that audiences realize that 3D conversion is a cheat, and a good way to gouge their pockets further, we also hope they start noticing the difference between films conceived in the format, and others just looking for a quick buck.
i'm already all "3-Ded out". if the studios want to add this gimmick to all their crap (although i'm hoping Green Lantern will be good), fine. i don't NEED to see those films.
The 2D-up to 3D in Alice In Wonderland was fucking awful. So at least this things will be SHOT in 3D.
Hopefully, that's somewhat better. But yeah, audiences might be feeling fatigue by the time they come out and Sucker Punch was NOT shot in 3D.
Big GROAN from me. Hollywood hacks riding the trend rainbow to what they hope is a pot of gold but leaving their brains behind.
Dammit, can they please make something that will clip on to peoples glasses, instead of having to ackwardly wear two pears of glasses to watch it in 3d.
