– Principal photography has began on Michel Gondry’s “The Green Hornet” with two more actors joining the cast: the versatile Tom Wilkinson and the Tony-Award nominated David Harbour. Nicolas Cage, however, is still only “in negotiations” to join even though he is purported to play the main villain.
– Seth Rogen talks about playing the titular alien in Greg Mottola’s “Paul.” “It’s a camera that monitors my facial movements, and tracks them so they could upload it into the alien layer..Yeah, it was pretty absurd,” said the actor. ““I’m a big fan of Simon [Pegg] and Nick [Frost]; I met them a couple of years ago and they’re both hysterical in my opinion. And Greg Mottola I’ve known for 10 years now; he’s one of the greatest guys ever in my opinion. I jumped at the opportunity to work with those guys. The script was hysterical; it just seemed like a really funny idea.”
– Could Ron Perlman feature in old mate, Guillermo Del Toro’s “The Hobbit”? After their fruitful collaboration on both the “Hellboy” films, it seems like a possibility. As would a role for Del Toro’s go-to-man Doug Jones.
– Ben Ketai will helm the sequel to David Slade’s “30 Days Of Night.” None of the main original cast will be returning though Melissa George’s character will be recast as the protagonist. Filming will begin this October in Vancouver. Yawnnn.
– Apparition, the proficient new distribution company, has added “The Boondock Saints” sequel to it’s slate. “Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day” will see a release on October 30 and joins the likes of Jane Campion’s “Bright Star,” Terrence Malick’s “The Tree Of Life,” “Black Dynamite” and “The Young Victoria” under Apparition’s umbrella.
– Beavis and Butthead return to promote their creator’s new film: Mike Judge’s “Extract.”
Ron Perlman would be awesome as Beorn in the Hobbit. And Doug Jones could be anything, he'd do it well.
