There is probably a cautionary tale in here somewhere, but since the story is still playing out the lessons will have to be learned at a later date. Needless to say, however, when producer Marc Fiore organized a big showy press conference this spring (pictured above) to announce "Gotti: In The Shadow Of My Father" (aka "Gotti: Three Generations" aka "Gotti"), he put the cart in front of the horse to a certain degree. Lindsay Lohan, despite making an appearance without a bra and being extensively rumored, isn't in the film. Meanwhile, a few months later, Joe Pesci would sue the producers over the film and just last month, money problems looked to put the production on ice.
Well, those seem to be somewhat resolved as The Wrap reports producer Ted Field ("The Last Samurai," "Pitch Black," "Runaway Bride") is now coming aboard, perhaps to lend this indie film a bit of professionalism it has seemed to be missing thus far. Director Barry Levinson (who took over for Nick Cassavetes) reportedly hooked up Field and Fiore himself, for the project that also switched law firms and who knows what else by the time it starts. And even that is up in the air.
Though originally slated to roll in front of cameras in January, that won't be happening and a new date hasn't yet been announced. That said, the cast of John Travolta, Ben Foster and Al Pacino are still apparently on board, with supporting players Kelly Preston and Chazz Palminteri expected to stick. The film has a script from James Toback, that will chronicle John Gotti Jr.'s life in the mob, the gang world his father played in and how he eventually got out.
So yeah, we'll believe it when we see it about this movie, which hasn't been too convincing thus far in establishing that it's a legit project. But hopefully Field can bring his veteran chops to kick this movie into production.
I'm looking forward to seeing this blockbuster movie when it hopefully comes out to Sydney I have huge interst in true crime and organized crime from all over the world I wish everybody who is involved in making this movie and cast all the very best wishes thank u rgds Luke Redfearn
The good things in life are worth waiting for. This is going to be a major blockbuster movie when all is said and done. I never heard of this producer Marc Fiore but it seems he has a lot of jealous people attacking him as he organized this all star lineup of talent.
Fiore is taking money from anyone who'll give it to him, what a fucking crook
This project was so full of promise and I am so disappointed. âGotti: In The Shadow Of My Fatherâ was going to be a grand success â critically and commercially as well as a heavy awards contender. I was looking forward to seeing the stellar cast comprised of John Travolta, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci, Lindsay Lohan, Kelly Preston, Ben Foster and Chazz Palminteri together on screen with possibly more famous gangster film genre actors.
