After years of building up these characters through multiple films in the new Monsterverse franchise, Legendary Pictures is finally ready to show you the payoff in “Godzilla vs. Kong.” But the real question is whether or not you should even bother watching the film? And in this episode of The Playlist Podcast, Charles, Mike, and Brian discuss that very topic.
“Godzilla vs. Kong,” as the title implies, features the story about two skyscraper-sized monsters duking it out all around the world while humans…do stuff. Honestly, the story is pretty convoluted and the human characters aren’t given a whole lot of great moments. But hey, this is about two kaiju beating the hell out of each other and toppling buildings, right? Well, at least that’s what the studio and director Adam Wingard hope is enough.

In this episode, the hosts talk about Legendary’s latest monster mash-up and why it’s probably not the best film in the world, but maybe that’s not such a big deal. Also discussed is the ridiculously talented cast which is given topics to discuss like robots, Hollow Earth theory, Pensacola, and monster sign-language. It’s pretty bonkers, honestly.
“Godzilla vs. Kong” is now available on HBO Max and in select theaters. You can hear the full discussion below:
