Ever since the release of the first “Knives Out,” film fans have been clamoring for more mysteries involving Detective Benoit Blanc. Thankfully, Netflix (and its massive bank account) came around and paid filmmaker Rian Johnson an obscene amount of money to bring multiple “Knives Out” sequels to the streaming service. However, outside of some casting news, not much has been known about the first film, until now.
Today, Netflix has unveiled the official title for the “Knives Out” sequel. The film is called “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” and is coming later this year. Here’s the fairly sparse logline for the upcoming film:
“In the follow-up to Rian Johnson’s KNIVES OUT, Detective Benoit Blanc travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful suspects.”
Much like the first “Knives Out,” the sequel will also include an incredible ensemble cast of “colorful suspects.” This time, Johnson has wrangled folks such as Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista. Of course, this cast of characters is led by Daniel Craig, who will return as Benoit Blanc, the southern-fried private eye who will likely solve whatever murder has happened in an entertaining fashion.
An exact release date for “Glass Onion” has yet to be announced, but Netflix is teasing a “Holiday Season” release, which makes sense given that’s peak awards time. The first “Knives Out” was nominated for Best Original Screenplay back in 2020.
