Sex and politics are usually never too far apart, and in the upcoming season of Steven Soderbergh‘s “The Girlfriend Experience” they’ll be colliding. The sleek Starz series is raising the stakes for the new batch of episodes, which only seems to get more scintillating the more skin that’s exposed.
Louisa Krause and Carmen Ejogo take the leads roles in the ambitious new season that will track two totally different, parallel storylines. The story will follow Erica Myles (played by Anna Friel), the Republican director of a super PAC, as she navigates the 2018 U.S. mid-term elections and becomes involved a top flight escort (Krause). Meanwhile, Ejogo will play an escort who is forced to relocate to New Mexico and start from scratch, only to find she can’t run away from her past.
Once again in the directors’ chairs are Lodge Kerrigan and Amy Seimetz, with Kerrigan will writing and directing the D.C. storyline, and Seimetz handling the New Mexico portion. All told, looks like another precision crafted season is on the way.
“The Girlfriend Experience” season two launches on November 5th.
