“He see’s dead people… and they annoy him.” God, are we the only ones on the planet that don’t really find Ricky Gervais’ shtick funny? We probably are. Here’s another thing, the American version of “The Office” is better. Take that.
OK, so Ricky Gervais, a ghey-ass ghost buddy premise with… Greg Kinnear the blandest milquetoast everyman character on earth this side of unfunnyman Dane Cook? Oh and Tea Leoni! God, who cast this thing, Ricky Lake?
Who in god’s name are they trying to market this film to, your mom? Ricky Gervais is for your mom. There we said it. Best of luck with this one. It’s probably September’s version of “Run Fatboy Run,” i.e. a film that’s a total failure with a Brit in the lead (them film’s just don’t translate so well).
Now the only thing we can add is: what’s going to be worse, this or “How To Lose Friends And Alienate People” with Simon Pegg (a dreadful-looking adaptation of an amazing book)?
Can we get that three minutes back now?
I really liked Run Fatboy Run
I may have been the only one
Snark can be fun. Your site, however, is not fun. Just letting you know that I hate this shit.
Man this movie looks awful. I saw the trailer today and nearly shot myself. Then, the trailer for the wonderful new cinematic masterpiece ‘Beverly Hills Chihuahua’ played and I decided I wanted to live.
You crack me up Pagels.
oh, and I can’t stand Gervais as well and completely agree about the American Office. He has a similar smugness to Danny McBride. They both think that they are funnier on screen than they really are. I imagine they are both really funny people, but I imagine someone could take the time to write something funnier than McBride’s improv.
I don’t love McBride, but i do like him. He totally stole ‘Pineapple Express,’ a movie in retrospect that i am liking less and less. Then again, maybe it’ll improve on video. I’m starting to realize that *cough* the retardation that was Step Brothers might be my fave comedy of the year. Oh and Zohan was admittedly super fun experience too, but no one but A.O. Scott wants to get on board with me there. I’ll take having Tony on my side though.
I never ended up seeing Zohan, I could have gone, but I just didn’t feel like it. I thought the only person in PE that was funny for their entire role was Ed Begley Jr. granted his role was a 5 minute role. Until he said the word Daiwoo, I didn’t think that he was constantly funny. The Cat Cake was funny, but I can’t remember any of the lines and I don’t see that as a good thing unlike Step Brothers where it is so random I don’t want to remember everything until I see it again. I like Tropic Thunder the most, but I still have my middle school affection for Ben Stiller and seeing Tom Cruise dance two times had me laughing my ass off.
