Abraham Lincoln is one of the most revered presidents in United States history. What the Tim Burton produced, Timur Bekmambetov directed "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" presupposes is, what if he hunted bloodsuckers?
Before Daniel Day-Lewis gives his inevitable Oscar nominated turn in Steven Spielberg's 2012 awards season bait, Benjamin Walker is gonna get there first. But he's gonna have an axe with him, and it won't be chop down a cherry tree. The actor leads the upcoming movie, and you can see a new image of him in the film scanned from a recent issue of EW. And while you're up there, you can also see Burton talking about how the material reminded him of '70s pulpy mashup fare like "Dr. Jekyll And Sister Hyde" and "Blacula" which is certainly an intriguing reference point.
Of course, whether Bekmambetov plays it straight or for camp or somewhere in the middle is yet to be seen, but he'll have an able cast at his disposal including Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Alan Tudyk, Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper. "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" opens on June 22nd. Get ready for blood with a behind the scenes look, a couple more images and a new poster for the flick below. [IWatchStuff/MTV/STYD/IMPA]
