Got a Tip?

‘Get Low’ Director Aaron Schneider To Helm ‘The Conscientious Objector’ About Desmond Doss

nullThere are a lot things you can do on the upcoming Thanksgiving long weekend: get some Christmas shopping done, crash out with a "Law & Order" marathon, eat unfamothable amounts of food, sleep, or use the time to catch up with some movies from last year you maybe have missed. If you're doing the latter, we urge to pop "Get Low" into the DVD player. A charming little film stars the pretty great trio of Bill Murray, Robert Duvall and Sissy Spacek, and carries with it a laid back charm that is genuine and fun to hang with. Director Aaron Schneider seems to have been laying low for the past little while, but he's got a promising new project in the works.

Family film focused Walden Media are surprisingly bringing the life of Desmond Doss to the big screen, with Schneider now set to direct. So who is this Doss? He has the distinction of being the only conscientious objector to earn a Congressional Medal Of Honor. How did he do it? The Private First Class of the 307th Infantry Division amazingly saved 75 men at the Battle Of Okinawa and oh yeah, he was completely unarmed, citing his beliefs as a 7th Day Adventist as his reason to not kill others or arm himself. It's a very compelling story and no surprise the reportedly picky Schneider has taken a shine to it.

Robert Schenkaan ("The Pacific," "The Quiet American") has penned the screenplay and no, this movie is not a remake of the low budget documentary about Doss of the same name. No word yet on who will take the lead, but it the pieces seem to be coming togther so hopefully we'll know more soon. [Deadline]

  1. There is nothing like real life.
Here is a real life story of how a medic
was not hit by any of the many bullets, as he saved 75 chaps. He even saved 2 at the same time, yet was likely lighter in weight than either of them.
The God of Christianity\’s Glory is in this story.
