Update: Variety confirms that Traue will be playing Faora, a villainess ripped right from the comics in the film.
Nearly two weeks have gone by since any word around “Man Of Steel” — which must be some kind of record — but it looks like we’re headed for another casting announcement soon.
Deadline is reporting that German actress Antje Traue — who you might recognize if you saw “Pandorum” but no one saw that movie — is now the frontrunner for the villainess role that may be Ursa or as recently rumored Faora. Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike were long ago rumored as contenders but we presume they’ve since fallen by the wayside. Traue has been making some minor waves in Hollywood recently testing for the Anthony Hopkins exorcism movie “The Rite” and for the female lead in “World War Z” with Brad Pitt, but she didn’t land either role. Whoever takes the job will have to make sure they can keep up with Michael Shannon as General Zod, an actor who’s presence can completely dominate and overshadow lesser thesps.
We’ll see how this plays out and gear up for what will likely be another Sunday afternoon announcement. Zack Snyder‘s film will hit theaters in December 2012.

yes, they HAVE to. There will be guns at their heads to ensure this. Hello random, internet person who keeps posting this over and over again.
As General Zod and Faora will be in Man of Steel, they have to include Non, Ursa, Quex-Ul, Nam-Ek and Aethyr-Ka.
