Got a Tip?

George Lucas Hasn’t Seen ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Trailer Yet, He’s Waiting For The Movie Instead

Star Wars: The Force AwakensThese days, movie marketing is not only about selling the sizzle but also the steak. Moviegoers have long complained that trailers often show off the best parts of a movie or give away key plot points that would better be left to be discovered when watching the finished product. And while that didn’t stop anybody from watching the first teaser trailer for "Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens," there is one person who surprisingly didn’t take a look.

George Lucas, of all people, hasn’t yet checked out what J.J. Abrams has done with the mythos he created. “I don’t know anything about it. I haven’t seen it yet,” he told Page Six. And while it might seem odd that the man who oversaw the franchise for decades before selling it for billions to Disney along with Lucasfilm hasn’t seen what has become of his legacy, he has a good reason.

“Because it’s not in the movie theater. I like going to the movies and watching the whole thing there," he explained. “I plan to see it when it’s released.”

And you know what? You’ve got to admire that in an era when when curiosity about a film can be instantly gratified by a trailer. It’s rare for folks to wait for the entire theatrical experience, but Lucas is going to….if he can hold out.

  1. It is not possible that it\’s worse than the prequels. It is nothing but a good thing that George Lucas is out of the picture. No one has done more to ruin his legacy than the man himself. Also not sure what it has to do with Marvel fanboys. Seems like the same bunch who stood in line for the prequels for two weeks.
