Got a Tip?

George Clooney Recruits Matt Damon For Possible New Directorial Effort, ‘Hamdan V. Rumsfeld’

Let’s face it: the suave George Clooney has had love affairs with many of his male co-stars. He’s already worked five times with Brad Pitt, and we don’t even wanna know what goes on with Steven Soderbergh, who he formed an entire production company with. Let’s face it- the guy loves the men. That will carry on to Clooney’s next directorial effort “Hamdan V. Rumsfeld,” his sixth collaboration with Matt Damon.

The film centers on Osama Bin Laden’s chauffeur, who was captured in Afghanistan before being shuffled off to Guantanamo Bay. This was the case that proved the actions being taken at Guantanamo were in fact a violation of the Geneva Conventions, thanks primarily to the work of Hamdan’s dashing, slick, and overwhelmingly handsome lawyer, a role that Clooney knew only a devilishly handsome man-about-town could handle. Enter Damon.

After directing the box office flop “Leatherheads,” Clooney probably understood that he’d need a financial home run to continue making films, so picking a film where we have to consider an underling of Osama Bin Laden as a sympathetic character sounds like a license to print money. We’re sure multiplex audiences will rush to see a movie that puts the name ‘Rumsfeld’ on the marquee one more time, because we just can’t get enough of that charming rapscallion in the media. Seriously, not only does this sound dramatically uncompelling, it also shows that Clooney has no problem fulfilling his silly liberal stereotype of the crusading do-gooder. We share views with Mr. Clooney, but does the world really need a movie about how the Geneva Convventions were violated at this time? This movie will provide relevations only for those who still keep a straight face when they hear the term ‘Tea Baggers.’

Also, George, find some new collaborators. We’re onto you, you big, fabulous, handsome gaymo, you.

Update: This film is actually an old project announced earlier this year, then called, “The Challenge” written by Aaron Sorkin for Clooney’s Smokehouse shingle with Grant Heslov that moved from WB to Sony in the spring (and Sony seems to be the house of Sorkin, they have his “Moneyball,” and “Facebook”).

Damon told Female First that while Clooney was set to star in the role, ultimately, “George just wasn’t right for the part, thank God, so I got to play it. He gets enough good roles, he doesn’t need all the good ones, he’s got to leave some for the rest of us!”

  1. The whole media blitz would probably require Clooney reminding everyone what the Geneva Conventions are (or WERE in the case of Bush/Rumsfeld, and even a couple instances in Obama's administration)
