Got a Tip?

GeekBeat: ‘Veronica Mars,’ ‘Faster Pussycat!,’ and Dee Snider’s ‘Strangeland’

Rob Thomas, creator of canceled teen detective show “Veronica Mars,” said at an ABC press conference today that he has finally begun writing the script for the film version of the cult sensation. He confirmed that both Kristen Bell who played Veronica, and producer Joel Silver are on board. Bell has told many a press outlet that she, unlike Michael Cera, is totally down with revisiting a past role on a revered TV show. See Michael, that isn’t so hard.

The folks over at We Are Movie Geeks recently caught up with cult B-movie actress Tura Satana at some sort of convention called Monstrous Weekend (braver men than us, for sure), where she informed them that Quentin Tarantino was moving forward on a rumored remake of “Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!” Satana said that she e-mailed Tarantino and that she has lobbied against the supposed involvement of Britney Spears. We’ve been in contact with some in and around Tarantino’s camp and have been told that ‘Pussycat!’ isn’t in his cards at this time. This is something we’ll explore in depth later, but for now, we think it’s safe to say that Ms. Satana’s probably jerkin’ our chains or she has very wishful thinking.

And speaking of old people with bad make-up (sorry Tura), Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider is set to start work on a sequel to his cinematic “tour de force” “StrangeLand.” For those even interested in the first place, don’t expect this one to make it to the theaters (did the first one even make it there?) as Snider’s looking to make this one as horror-y and gory.Though with torture porn (of which he’s also taking credit for being a forefather) crapping up multiplexes left and right, who knows what awaits Mr. Snider and his post-hair metal Freddy Krueger, Captain Howdy?
