Gael García Bernal Joins An All-Star Cast For M. Night Shyamalan’s New, Mysterious Film

It’s a damn shame that actor Gael García Bernal isn’t in the conversation with folks like Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, and other A-list actors that always deliver quality films with excellent performances. Let’s be honest, project for project, Bernal is up there with anyone in terms of films with incredible, awards-worthy performances and collaborations with some of the best filmmakers working today. Hopefully, his next project, teaming with filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan is just what Bernal needs to gain more popularity in Hollywood.

According to Deadline, Bernal is set to star in the ensemble cast being put together for M. Night Shyamalan’s latest feature, a mysterious thriller that is being distributed by Universal. As you might expect from a Shyamalan film, this new feature is being kept close to the vest, with not even a title being revealed, let alone a plot. All that is known is the release date, July 23, 2021, and that it features a really great cast.

Bernal joins actors Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff, Vicky Krieps, Abbey Lee, Nikki Amuka-Bird, and Ken Leung in the film. To say that Shyamalan has outdone himself with this collection of actors is an understatement. There are some of the best folks working in films today among the talent pool involved. Just based on the cast alone, this is a film that shouldn’t be missed.

Bernal is probably best known for roles in projects such as “Y Tu Mamá También,” “The Motorcycle Diaries,” “Babel,” and “Coco.” However, in recent years, he’s been in some of the most interesting films of the last couple of years, including “The Kindergarten Teacher,” “Museum,” and “Ema.” The latter of which is easily one of the best films to debut in 2020.

This new film is Shyamalan’s biggest project in recent memory, after a string of self-funded indie features that surprised folks at the box office, including “The Visit,” “Split,” and “Glass.” It’ll be interesting to see what new tricks the filmmaker has up his sleeve for this cast.
