Throughout the tumultuous awards season, there was probably no one more fun to watch than Gabourey Sidibe. The first time actress and Oscar nominee seemed to love every moment in the spotlight and was definitely a real card on the red carpet this weekend, having lots of fun posing for the cameras.
The actress is striking while the iron is hot and Sidibe has signed on to join Laura Linney in the Showtime dark comedy “The Big C.” The show is being described as a dark comedy that will follow Linney, “a suburban wife and mother who turns her life around after being diagnosed with cancer.” Sidibe will play a student of Linney’s character (so we’re guessing she’s a teacher as well).
The 13 show season starts filming in May, and will air at the end the summer. Sidibe, along with her Oscar-winning co-star Mo’Nique made watching the otherwise gutter trawling “Precious” watchable. We’re pretty interested to see what the results will be working opposite the always excellent Linney and we’ll add this to our growing slate of cable shows to watch.
