In case there was any doubt that a movie featuring an action hero raccoon could be made, Marvel‘s Phase Two is in full swing, with a whole bunch of early material arriving this week. The superhero studio isn’t wasting any time moving on as they continue to cast up “Guardians Of The Galaxy,” adding one actress who knows her way around the solar system already.
Zoe Saldana, already a veteran of the “Star Trek” series, will trade her blue “Avatar” skin for green, as she’s in negotiations for the role of Gamora. She’ll join a pretty wacky cast so far that includes Chris Pratt as Star-Lord and WWE dude Dave Bautista as Drax. Anyway, for those of you not quite up on your nerd lessons, Gamora is the adopted daughter of the villain Thanos, and also a love interest of fellow Galaxy member Adam Warlock. She’s got superhuman strength, speed, and rapid healing ability, and basically can roll with the best of them.
We’re still not exactly sold on a movie with a tree-man but Marvel seems to think they can sell this premise and cast, so more power to them we suppose. The James Gunn directed movie will arrive on August 1, 2014. [THR]
Not sold on a movie with a tree-man, huh? So you didn't care for LOTR The Two Towers? It's fantasy. If it looks fun, audiences will go.
Let's not change that costume at all, Marvel. How about it?
I feel stupid for not even considering Zoe "21st Centuary Badass" Saldana. Now she seems perfect for the role.
Can't wait for the racist close-minded Comic Fans to start whining online about how "You can't have a black woman play the Green Skinned Alien! She is clearly White!"
