It’s been over twenty years since “Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday” (which turned out not to be the final Friday for the horror icon), and thirteen years since “Freddy vs. Jason,” and while the genre has pushed forward, with new franchises emerging, you can’t keep a classic character down (in fact, it seems everyone is keen to forget about the 2009 do over). And once again, the hockey mask wearing maniac will return to the big screen, and the reboot has found a director.
The franchise will now rest in the hands of Breck Eisner, who is in talks to helm the redo of “Friday The 13th” at Paramount. His CV is hardly inspiring with flops like “Sahara” and “The Last Witch Hunter” on there, but Eisner did direct the remake of “The Crazies,” which earned $54 million on a $20 million budget, which I guess isn’t bad? The movie wasn’t all that memorable, but I guess it gives the filmmaker a pretty low bar to clear when bringing Jason back to the multiplex.
Michael Bay is producing the remake that’s due out next year, and just remember, it was his Platinum Dunes company that was behind new versions of “The Amityville Horror” and “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre,” so adjust your expectations accordingly. [Deadline]
Now all you all need is to bring back Mr.Kane Hodder as Jason Voorhees and Mr.Harry Manfredini for the iconic original friday the13th score then you all will have a real friday the13th movie on you all hands!
Kane Hodder is overrated as hell. The movies he was in suck. The New Blood was his only decent entry in the series, parts 8, 9 and 10 were horse shit. Kane is too robotic and stiff, and he breathes a lot for someone who is supposed to be dead.
