Variety reports that Shaw will “co-write, executive produce, and direct the first episode” of the adaptation of Judy Blume’s first non-YA book from 1978, “Wifey” which follows one life-changing summer of Sandy Pressman, a disillusioned New Jersey housewife whose predictable life and sexual dissatisfaction compels her to turn her sexual fantasies into a reality by pursuing an affair with an old boyfriend among others, only to find out that her husband is also sleeping with other people.

It’s been just under a year since Showtime canceled Shaw’s previous showrunner gig, “SMILF,” following claims published by a report from The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that Shaw had behaved inappropriately on set. According to the report by Variety, an internal investigation by the studio cleared Shaw of any wrongdoing, adding that though her overall deal with ABC Studios was suspended at the time, Shaw “was eventually paid out the full amount of her deal after an internal investigation by the studio cleared her of wrongdoing.”

In the meantime, Shaw is also set to write and direct her first feature, “Ultraluminous” which is set to be produced by Steven Soderbergh, and will be a revenge film following a high-end sex-worker who returns to New York City after being abroad for a decade. The project is based on a novel that has been compared to “American Psycho.”
