If you’ve ever lived in an area that regularly gets hit by hurricanes, you know people that act like Mel Gibson’s character in “Force of Nature.” They’re a bit older and stubborn, and they don’t want to leave their house for a wimpy storm, even if it is a Category 5. But the people that do that in real life probably aren’t secret badasses that are on the run from criminals.
In the trailer for “Force of Nature,” we’re introduced to Gibson’s character, Ray, a curmudgeonly old man that doesn’t want to evacuate his apartment building, even as the police and his daughter attempt to convince him otherwise. Why is he being so stubborn? Well, apparently he’s aware of $55 million hidden in the building, and he knows the criminals that want that money will be there to collect. So, he has to stay there, load up on guns and ammo, and protect the money at all costs.
You know, that same old story that you hear all the time.
The film stars Gibson alongside Emile Hirsch, Kate Bosworth, David Zayas, Stephanie Cayo, Will Catlett, Swen Temmel, Tyler Jon Olson, and Jorge Luis Ramos. The new film is written by Cory Miller and directed by Michael Polish.
Obviously, the more correct name for this film would have been “Hurricane Heist,” but funny enough, that was already taken. And “Mel Gibson Shoots Lots Of Bad Guys During A Hurricane” doesn’t really roll off the tongue. So, “Force of Nature,” it is.
“Force of Nature” arrives on VOD and DVD/Blu-ray on June 30.
Here’s the short synopsis:
A gang of thieves plan a heist during a hurricane and encounter trouble when a cop tries to force everyone in the building to evacuate.
