As much as we’re sick of hearing about “The Dark Knight” this year and as much as we don’t want it to be nominated for Best Picture or any other major awards (we’re getting to him), the one exception of course being Heath Ledger as the Joker and man, we have to admit, this For Your Consideration poster is excellent.
Damn, if it isn’t moody as hell, inspires awe and empathy – the perfect tone that Warner Bros. were probably shooting for. Is this one in the bag? Well, the nomination surely is. Winning is something entirely different, but we’re sure he’s the favorite to win right now.
Who else could take it from him, Michael Shannon in “Revolutionary Road” who seems poised for a nomination already?
It seems doubtful, but there are a few weeks of 2008 to still play out of course.
That poster is brilliant, and better than any actually put out for the movie. It’s very very haunting, and works on so many different levels. And speaking of artwork…the image used for the DVD box (under the batpod as it busts out a building window) is utterly terrible. Makes me not even want to buy it.
Definitely a great poster, but had it been a part of the original theatrical release’s campaign, marketing would’ve gotten crap for trying to promote the movie through Ledger’s death (regardless of their true intent).
